GIT Organizes
Chanthaburi International
Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023


The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or GIT, together with Chanthaburi Province, Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Traders Association, Chanthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, Chanthaburi Municipality, Chanthaburi Industrial Council, Chanthaburi Provincial Chamber of Commerce, and agencies in Chanthaburi Province, formally announced their readiness to move forward with the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023. The Festival runs 7-11 December 2023, promoting Chanthaburi Province toward becoming a world gem capital. The event is expected to generate more than 100 million baht and attract more than 10,000 attendees.

Chanthaburi Province Governor Monsit Paisanthanawat said the International Chanthaburi Gems and Jewelry Festival 2023 is part of the government’s important policy under a Cabinet resolution, to support Chanthaburi Province in becoming a Gem City, a center of world gem and jewelry trade (Chanthaburi: City of Gems). This resolution is one of the measures to support Thailand in becoming a global center for the world gem and jewelry trade (World’s Gems and Jewelry Hub). This supports development of economic areas and spreads prosperity in the region. It includes economic measures to accommodate fluctuations in the world economy, specially in matters if economic development, and Thailand’s competitiveness.

The festival is an important event in the province, with the city closing down while the events take place. The principal event area is within a one-kilometer radius in Chanthaburi city. The three main event locations are: Chanthaburi Gem and Jewelry Promotion Center/ KP Jewelry Center/ Ploy Market Srichan Road. The event creates opportunities, and generates local income.

GIT Director Sumed Prasongpongchai said this is the fourth consecutive year that the event has been organized, and it received good response from partners in both the government and private sectors. It is a very important event in the gems and jewelry industry, alongside the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair.

In the Festival this year, there are more than 300 booths of entrepreneurs, both domestic and international. Being exhibited are full ranges of all products: rough gemstones, polished gemstones, gemstone jewelry, jewelry components, machinery, equipment, and packaging.

The festival is hosting special activities: online trade marketing seminars, workshop demonstrations, business matching under the Buy with Confidence project (BWC Business Matching).

There is a Mobile Lab for gem and jewelry inspection, building confidence among buyers and sellers.

On exhibition at the Festival are gems and jewelry that has won the GIT World Jewelry Design Awards 2023. Also on exhibition are jewel creations from Chanthaburi entrepreneurs, designed for this particular event.

Ms Kanokporn Damrongkul, Director of Domestic MICE Marketing, Convention and Exhibition Bureau, said Chanthaburi is a city with potential for cultural tourism. It is expected that throughout the five-day period of the event, there will be no less than 10,000 visitors, and the trade value within the event will be no less than 100 million baht.
