World Diamond Congress 2026

27 Nov 2025

Asia’s Rising Influence and Africa’s Key Role to Take Center Stage at WDC 2026 in Singapore

The World Diamond Congress (WDC) — the joint gathering of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) and the International Diamond Manufacturers Association (IDMA) — is set to convene in Singapore from July 12 to 15, 2026. The Sands Expo & Convention Centre will host the event, marking the first time in nearly 40 years that the Congress returns to the city-state.

Fabio Cascapera of the Diamond Exchange of Singapore (DES), speaking on behalf of the WDC 2026 Organizing Committee, underscored the significance of bringing the Congress back to Singapore. “A great deal has changed since the 1988 World Diamond Congress held here 37 years ago,” he noted. “Yet one constant remains: diamonds continue to be a universally coveted luxury, treasured by consumers across cultures and generations.”

Organizers highlighted Asia’s expanding role in driving global jewellery demand. According to Suresh Hathiramani, former DES President and a member of the Organizing Committee, the region’s consumer markets have flourished over recent decades. “Diamonds, coloured gemstones and gem-set jewellery have become increasingly sought after by the growing middle classes across Asia,” he said, pointing to sustained luxury demand not only in China and India but also in Southeast Asian markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Another key focus of the upcoming Congress is strengthening collaboration between Asia and Africa within the international diamond supply chain. Hathiramani expressed enthusiasm about welcoming industry leaders from Africa — the source of most gem-quality diamond production — to explore potential partnerships and shared opportunities.

With participation anticipated from major miners, manufacturers, traders, technological innovators and policymakers, the 2026 Congress is set to serve as a vital forum for industry dialogue, cooperation and business growth.
