Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair to Debut in Basel in April 2027
The international trade show calendar is set to welcome a new addition with the launch of the Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair, scheduled to make its debut in April 2027 in Basel, Switzerland. The event is being organized through a partnership between MCH Group, the company behind Art Basel and the former Baselworld exhibition, and Informa Markets, a global organizer of business-to-business trade fairs within the jewelry sector.
Designed as a dedicated marketplace for professionals, the exhibition will bring together businesses from the watch, jewelry, and gemstone industries under one roof, creating new opportunities for networking, sourcing, and commercial partnerships.
More Than 400 Exhibitors Expected
Although organizers have not yet announced participating brands, the inaugural fair is expected to feature over 400 exhibitors. Current projections include around 200 jewelry companies, 100 watch brands, and another 100 exhibitors specializing in gemstones and raw materials.
The exhibition floor will feature a unique city-inspired layout, intended to make navigation easier while encouraging interaction between exhibitors and visitors from different sectors of the luxury goods industry.

Basel to Host the New Event
The Basilia Jewellery & Watch Fair will take place at Hall 2 of the Basel Exhibition Centre in Basel, Switzerland during April 2027. Organizers have yet to reveal the exact opening date or the event's duration, with additional details expected closer to launch.
A Different Approach from Traditional Watch Fairs
Rather than competing directly with established events such as Watches and Wonders Geneva, Basilia is positioning itself with a distinct identity.
One of its defining characteristics will be its stronger emphasis on the jewelry industry, with watch exhibitors expected to account for only about a quarter of the total exhibition space. The event is also expected to spotlight brands operating in more accessible price categories, particularly independent and microbrands offering watches in the US$500 to US$1,500 range, instead of concentrating on ultra-luxury timepieces.
The exhibition will also place greater emphasis on business-to-business transactions, making it a venue focused on commercial relationships, wholesale opportunities, and industry networking rather than consumer launches and media-driven product unveilings.
Another notable feature will be its international outlook, with organizers planning significant participation from Asian companies alongside a broader mix of non-Swiss brands.
A New Chapter for MCH Group
The announcement also represents another step in MCH Group's efforts to rebuild its presence in the watch industry after the closure of the once-renowned Baselworld exhibition. Following the departure of major brands such as Rolex and Patek Philippe, Baselworld ultimately came to an end, prompting MCH to rethink its strategy.
By partnering with Informa Markets—an experienced organizer of international trade exhibitions—the company is pursuing a more commerce-driven model that complements, rather than competes directly with, existing luxury watch events.
With growing demand for affordable mechanical watches and the continued rise of independent brands worldwide, Basilia could offer an important new platform for businesses seeking international exposure and commercial growth. As the event approaches, industry attention will likely focus on which brands choose to become part of its inaugural edition.
